Project Overview

Blade Pile was engaged to support early works for the construction of the new $48.5 million Moranbah Hospital – a major regional health facility funded by the Queensland Government and delivered by Hutchinson Builders. The project will significantly expand emergency and outpatient care across the Bowen Basin, requiring a structural foundation that performs under pressure.

Our scope included the supply and installation of over 560 galvanised screw piles to establish a stable, code-compliant foundation in preparation for vertical construction.

Challenge: Precision Under Pressure

The Moranbah site presented two main complexities:

Access & Logistics: Located deep in Queensland’s resource corridor, the site required coordinated delivery of piling equipment and materials within tight timeframes.
Geotechnical Demands: The soil profile required a solution that could accommodate load variability, maintain site integrity, and meet performance requirements without compromise.

With a narrow 12-day installation window and no room for error in placement or depth, both planning and on-site execution had to be accurate.

Our Implementation: Engineered Screw Piles for Reliable Ground Support

The Blade Pile team supplied and installed

Galvanised 3.0M Blade Pile 76×4mm shafts with

250×8mm twin blades, specifically engineered for the geotechnical conditions of the Moranbah site.

We deployed experienced operators, high-capacity torque drivers, and GPS-aligned equipment to ensure accurate placement and consistent penetration depths and minimal soil disturbance.

All screw piles were manufactured to comply with AS 2159 and installed by trained operators following certified procedures.

By using screw piling foundations, we eliminated concrete curing delays and reduced environmental disruption, ensuring a fast, clean, and structurally sound result.
